Hidden Camera Detectors

Hidden camera detectors are available in two distinct categories:

1) Visual Detectors
A pinhole lens, most commonly used in hidden cameras, will reflect a focused beam of light.  Our visual hidden camera detectors emit focused red beams of light so that you will see a little red dot when searching for a hidden camera in a hotel room, tanning bed, office, or home.  The SpyFinder or LaserScan are both very effective in discovering hidden cameras.  They will detect hidden cameras that are wired or wireless.

2) RF Detectors
RF Detectors detect wireless cameras only and are not as effective as visual detectors since a lot of hidden cameras now use built-in digital recorders that don't emit a RF signal.  RF detectors will allow you to detect a wireless transmitter that is sending video to a remote receiver.  They are especially effective when the hidden camera's lens is hidden behind black glass or IR Pass Plastic where visual detectors are ineffective.

Q: Are hidden camera detectors foolproof?

A: No. Within the last two years technology has been developed to allow cameras to see through glass or plastic and not allow hidden camera detectors to see in from the outside.  While the advent of IR Pass Plastic and other Black Glass technology has significantly improved the ability for investigations to go undetected, it does pose a problem when you are trying to detect hidden cameras.  For most commercially available hidden cameras any of these detectors should still work just fine though.
